My name is Melanie Velez (pronouns: she/her) and I'm a

New York mom who LOVES BIRTH. I am a passionate birthworker trained in educating and supporting new and seasoned parents in hospital births, home births, birth center births, and the postpartum period. My teaching approach and support style are warm, welcoming, and inclusive. ALL are welcome here.

 

I have three children, and three very different birth experiences: one emergency c-section, one unplanned VBAC, and one planned VBAC. Birth is WILDLY unpredictable.

Because birth is so unpredictable, I'm here with my birth services to make sure of three things:

​

1. that you're feeling calm, confident, and prepared for the birth you want (and the birth you didn't plan for)

2. that you face your birth with the empowerment to ask questions and to not just go with the flow - we want a healthy baby AND a healthy birth parent

3. that your postpartum period feels sacred, powerful, supported, and restorative

 

Birth is magical AND medical, and we should talk about it.
